Barb has been writing for as long as she can remember, and seemed to knock it out of the park quite often when writing compositions for English classes. Of course a lot of her writings were fueled by teen angst and hormones, and were a student to turn in this kind of thing nowadays they’d be sent to the school counselor and/or medicated.
She continued to write in college, was published in her school’s literary magazine, The Lion’s Eye, and snagged 1st place in the college-wide poetry competition. More recently, she has been published in the Hammonton Gazette as both a travel columnist and a parenting columnist, and currently is a freelance writer.
Where?
A native of southern New Jersey, Barb seems to have been an Anglophile since birth, and spent several years living in England after her wedding. She may not get back for quite some time, but that doesn’t keep her from checking newspapers and web cams across the pond on a regular basis.
Schooling?
Barb graduated from Trenton State College (now called the College of New Jersey, but that’s a sore spot) with a major in communication. She enjoyed college so much she devised a plan to stay: She would go for her Master’s in secondary education and English. After all, she loved school, she loved writing, and she loved the tween/teen age group.
After some time teaching high school and middle school, Barb worked as the editorial director for a marketing company on the sunny shores of Destin, Florida, and wrote the English Grammar and Style content for Suite101.com. During that time, she decided on a new way to channel her interests: writing books designed to educate as well as entertain. She is currently working on a ”cheeky” history of the Tudors and writes a blog called The Tudor Tutor.
